Dr. Wang Xuhua from British P.E.S Technology Company visited our School for Academic Exchange

Recently, Dr. Wang Xuhua from British P.E.S Technology Company visited the School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering for academic exchange after being invited by Associate Professor Wang Junli in our school.
On the morning of April 23, Dr. Wang delivered an academic report entitled“Highly Conductive, Transparent and Flexible Electrodes for Optoelectronic Devices”in the III-412 lecture hall, West Building . At the beginning, taking the application of various electronic display devices in daily life as an entry point, she introduced the report topic -- electronic display devices with high conductivity and transparent flexibility. She detailed the development and basic principles of flexible electronic display devices in recent years, and shared her latest research progress of transparent display in conductive polymers, single-walled carbon nanotubes and silver nanowires. Dr. Wang illustrated how her team apply polymer transparent electrodes to flexible displays and organic light-emitting diodes. The development of single-walled carbon nanotubes for flexible display was explained. Carbon nanotubes could be made into a large-area film with high conductivity and low cost. Silver nanowires could be used for displaying transparent electrode, and its application stands the forefront of science and has huge potential.

 

 

During the question interaction, Dr. Wang actively communicated with the teachers and students, and explained the technical difficulties and R&D priorities that everyone cares about.  The lecture, with a strong academic atmosphere, had won unanimous praise and applause from all the attendees by her rigorous academic spirit and humorous expressions .

 After the lecture, Dr. Wang had an academic exchanges with relevant research groups about the scientific and engineering issues. 

 

 

 


Bipgraphy: Xuhua Wang received B. Eng. degree from Changchun Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics in 1984 and received M. Sc. degree from Jilin University in 1989 and Ph.D. degree from University of Manchester in 1998. She has 20 years’ worth significant industry experiences as well as academic research on the development of novel flexible nanomaterials and optoelectronic devices. She worked as a Senior Scientist at Cambridge Display Technology Ltd, UK and a Leading Scientist at Molecular Vision Ltd, UK and Excitech Lasers Micromachining companies.  She had worked as a Research and Management role at Imperial College London for more than 10 years. She is a Scientific Consultant to a company of P.E.S. Technologies, UK. She is the author of more than 60 journal papers and 3 patents. She is a reviewer of several high impact journals and assessor on the grant applications of UK research council (i.e. EPSRC) and Hong Kong Research Grants Council (RGC).  She is the recipient of several awards including Student Academic Choice Awards 2017 at Imperial College and 2017 Chunhui Cup Entrepreneurship Challenge Award in China.
